History

Since 1950, AHEPA Chapter James C. Magin – #383 has been serving the local community and promoring Hellenism and the AHEPA Mission in the Greater Washington D.C. Metero Area.

Connect
Socialize, gather, and organize with Philhellenes in our own state of Maryland and around the world.

Defend
Hellenism and the values that create Hellenic culture are under attack constantly. Be a part of the phalanx that seeks to preserve and protect what it means to be Greek.

Fundraise
Join your fellow Greeks in annual fundraisers which are used to benefit your local and Greek communities, as well as scholarship opportunities for the youth.

Support
The AHEPA Mission: to promote the ancient Hellenic ideals of education, philanthropy, civic responsibility, family and individual excellence through community service and volunteerism.

Volunteer
Give back to the communities that you were a part of growing up. Chapter 383 connects with and volunteers for the local Greek Churches and communities in their festivals, events and causes.

The emulation of ancient Greek culture, civilization, principles and ideals, including humanism, reason, the pursuit of knowledge, the arts, moderation and civic responsibility. AHEPA membership is open to all Christians.

History

The American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA) is one of the largest Hellenic heritage groups in the world and is a major community service organization in North America.
Founded in 1922 on the principles that undergirded its fight for civil rights and against discrimination & bigotry, AHEPA is the largest and oldest grassroots association of American citizens of Greek heritage and Philhellenes with more than 400 chapters. While founded in the United States in 1922, the AHEPA organization has branched out to include chapters throughout Canada, Greece, Cyprus, New Zealand and Australia.
Included in the AHEPA Family is the women’s group, Daughters of Penelope; the Sons of Pericles (the junior order of AHEPA); and the Maids of Athena (the junior order of the Daughters of Penelope).
